The Reference Section

Includes dictionaries, guides, encyclopedias, directories, handbooks, manuals, indexes, yearbooks, and almanacs. May be consulted for specific or general information. Can be found at the 1st floor. Materials are for room use only.

The Reserve Section
  • These are the books and collateral reading materials recommended by the VSB faculty members. 

 

  • Books and other materials in high demand are for room use only for a maximum of two hours. 

 

  • Reserve materials with duplicate copies are the only ones issued for overnight use.

 

  • For the undergraduate and graduate day programs students, reserve books are issued at 4:00 pm and to be returned the following day on or before 9:00 am. 

 

  • For the graduate evening program, books are issued from 6:00-7:00 pm and must be returned the following day at 6:00 pm.

The Periodicals Section

Includes academic and professional journals, magazines and newspapers. The materials are arranged alphabetically by title. Located at the first floor, and for room use only.

Circulation

Undergraduate students may borrow a maximum of five books. While a maximum of 10 books for graduate students and faculty members are allowed. The loan period is generally for two weeks, renewable for another 2 weeks when no other borrower requests for the same book.

Dissertations

Doctoral dissertations submitted to the School are found at the 1st floor. For works before March 15, 2012, only the abstract and title page may be photocopied, and are strictly for room use only.

 

For dissertations submitted on or after March 15, 2012, the entire work may be open for public access.  Please refer to this memorandum from the UP Diliman Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Development for more details.
